The 29th annual Burlington First Run 5K and Kids Fun Run is taking place on New Year’s Day. It is organized by Run Vermont and presented by the University of Vermont Medical Center.
There will be three runs in total: the 5K, which starts at 11:00 AM, a ½ mile fun run for children aged 4 to 7 at 10:30 AM, and a one-mile fun run at 10:40 AM for those aged 8 to 12.
Fees for the 5K are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the run. Both of the fun runs are free of charge. Registered runners can pick up their race packets at Skirack from December 29 to 31. Race T-Shirts are available for purchase at $20 each.
All races start on Cherry Street near the Burlington Town Center. There will be awards handed out after the race for the top finishers in the categories of male, female, open, and masters. In addition, awards will also be given out for the top costumes.
No doubt there will be runners from nearby communities such as Hinesburg who wish to participate in these events. It is also likely that local printing companies will provide necessary items such as race bibs.
