The Colchester Harvest Celebration will take place at the Pine Island Community Farm. In partnership for the event, the Intervale Center and Vermont Land Trust work with the Pine Island Community Farm in presenting a unique event.
Garden tours and tastings, including goat and chicken, will be available at the harvest celebration. The New Americans will provide an opportunity for visitors to learn more about farm life, including meeting farmers Theogene Mahoro and Chuda Bhutali.
Pine Island consists of over 60 families from 10 countries farming on the seven acres within the community gardens. More than 100 goats mill around the exterior of the large hoop barn, and over 200 chickens are found in Pens nearby.
The farm is surrounded with wetlands, pastures, riverfront and acreage with the Winooski River flowing through. Vegetables are grown on the farm, as well, and include bitter melon, Bhutanese peppers and daikon radish.
Public event planners often call upon local Print shops to handle banner printing. Banners are ideal for attracting attention quickly and can advertise an event. They can also serve as directional signage.
Farmer Theogene has stated the success of Pine Island is contributed to the network of volunteers, organizational support, visitors, and customers.
Limited parking is available on the sides of Pine Island Road. The Colchester Harvest Celebration will take place September 21. More information about the event is available online.
