Zombies have taken over Colchester, and people will have to run for their lives.
Colchester Parks & Recreation has put together the inaugural Zombie Fun Run, which will test runners’ skills when it comes to evading zombies. The race is a 5K, but it requires participants to race through the woods and dodge the undead.
Every runner will be given a belt with flags, and it will be their task to get through the woods without having any flags snatched by a zombie. Those who get to the finish line with flags left will be given a “survivor” prize, but those who lose all their flags will be “infected.”
The event is meant to be both fun and spooky, so runners are encouraged to wear costumers. However, they are requested not to dress as zombies to avoid confusing runners with the zombies who are chasing them. Also, the costumes must allow the wearer to run.
Runners may not hide their flags, which must remain affixed to their belts and not tied on. Runners may not pick flags up from the ground or take them from other participants. Finally, the zombies will be running towards the participants, who are not allowed to come in contact with the monsters.
The Zombie Fun Run is set for October 23, beginning at 9:00 am at Colchester High School, and will take place rain or shine. Organizers of events like these can use banner printing to create weather-resistant course signage.
