Colchester is planning to celebrate Independence Day in style.
First on the schedule is the 4th of July Parade, which begins at 10:00 am. The route runs from the assembly point at Colchester High School, down Blakely Road, then ends at Lavigne Road. It is expected that roads will be closed in the area for approximately one hour. Planners of this type of event can use banner printing to create directional Signs that stand up to weather.
Bayside Beach will be open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on the holiday. Those who would enjoy a swim will be able to do so safely, as lifeguards will be on duty. Pedal boats, kayaks, and paddleboards will be available for rental from Bayside Paddle Sports.
Bayside Park is the place to be that evening, when The Hitmen perform from 6:45 pm until 8:45 pm. The four-member band comprises Bob Boedecker on keyboards, Brian Donnelly on drums, Bob Young on guitar, and Jim Chesney handling bass. All four perform vocals.
The Hitmen are a party band playing the hits of the 1970s and 1980s. Bands on their setlist include everyone from Steely Dan and The Atlanta Rhythm Section to Santana and John Mellencamp.
The day winds up with a fireworks display set off at the Bayside Softball field. Everyone is asked to remain behind the fence for their safety.
Parking for the events is available at the Malletts Bay School, Colchester Middle School, and Colchester High School.
