Colchester prepares for 4th of July celebration

The city of Colchester is in the process of planning the 50th Annual 4th of July celebration.

Starting with the 5K Fun Run, interested participants will pick up their registration packets between 7:30 and 8:00 am at Union Memorial School. The race will begin at 8:15 am. Entry fee is $5 per person which will include light refreshments at the conclusion of the race. Finishers in the female, male, and youth categories will receive medals.

Following the 5K race, a parade starting at Colchester High School will begin at 10:00 am The parade will march down Blakely Road ending at Lavigne Road. Residents and visitors can expect to see road closure for about an hour.

Banner printing will no doubt provide directional signage for guests and runners. Made of sturdy vinyl with built-in grommets, Banners can be hung in the air or on buildings to assist visitors with informational guidance.

Bayside Park will host food trucks offering a variety of tasty treats. The popular band known as Hitmen will provide entertainment until approximately 8:45 pm.

The much-anticipated fireworks show will start at 9:00 pm and will take place on Bayside Softball Field. Spectators are advised to stay behind the fence for their safety. Parking will be available at Colchester Middle and High Schools along with the Malletts Bay School.
