A virtual session hosted by Colchester AARP will take place this month and will present information on applying for Social Security benefits for the first time.
As people approach retirement, challenges can arise in how to handle starting Social Security. This virtual presentation will address how to determine eligibility, begin the process, and other pertinent tasks. Making informed decisions in this matter has a lifetime impact for senior citizens.
Other topics covered include learning about spousal benefits as well as survivor resources. Calculating Social Security benefits will be demonstrated based on work history as well as how marital status can impact the benefits. Information on how to set up the My Social Security online account will be provided. Resource guides will be made available to attendees at this session, as well.
Instructors hosting virtual sessions often use graphic design to ensure the presentations are interesting and compelling enough to hold attention. Graphic designers are available at local printing services to assist.
The virtual seminar ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Claiming Social Security for the First Time: Key Questions to Ask’, will be held on Thursday, September 23 from noon until 1:00 pm. Attendance is free but registration is required. Upon registration, VT AARP will confirm receipt and provide access information to the seminar.
