An upcoming event in Colchester is just for hams.
Ham-Con is for ham radio operators, not pigs or overzealous actors. There will be a lot of activities for attendees, including a vendor room and indoor flea market, forums, door prizes, and more.
Vendors will be offering everything from new items to vintage finds, and there will be eight forums. The subjects include how to set up and operate a ham radio station away from home base, and how to be an effective operator in any conditions. These sessions are also available via Zoom.
There will also be an opportunity for operators to take their FCC Commercial License Exams.
Ham-Con is Saturday, February 24, from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. The convention is at the Hampton Inn on Lower Mountain Road in Colchester. The general admission price is $12 and doors open at 8:00 am, while the early admission price is $18, with doors opening at 6:00 am. Visitors are politely asked to bring the exact amount.
Attendees younger than 18 will be admitted free, and Canadian visitors can use Canadian dollars by presenting their ham radio or driver’s license. Advanced sale prices are $7 general admission, early admission $14, and advanced early admission plus table is $25. Early prices end February 15.
Organizers of events like this will often promote them by using flyer printing to create handouts to distribute in the local area.
