Bluegrass band comes to Colchester
A band from Richmond, Vermont, will be appearing in Colchester soon.
The Mansfield Mountain Band hails from the mountains near Richmond. They are an acoustic, four-piece group who play bass, mandolin, guitar, and banjo, as well as handling vocal duties. They perform their own materials, as well as high-energy versions of classics from both the Americana and traditional Bluegrass genres.
The current lineup is Jeremy Hobart on bass, guitarist Charlie Wilson, Jordan Duffy on the mandolin, and Thomas Bryce on banjo. Among the songs on the band’s setlist is “Nine Pound Hammer,” which was first recorded by Al Hopkins & His Buckle Busters in 1927, and “Blue Ridge Cabin Home,” which was written by Louise Certain and Gladys Stacey, and recorded by the legendary Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt. Among the band’s original songs are “Pike Country Run” and “White Mountain Air,” but they have yet to release their debut album.
Bluegrass is a highly specific musical genre that developed in the Appalachian region of the United States in the 1940s. Acoustic stringed instruments are featured in bluegrass, as is the offbeat.
The band will be at The Spanked Puppy in Colchester on September 24, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Organizers of this type of event have a chance to help boost a new group by creating informative pamphlets about the performers using brochure printing.
