An event is coming up that will allow attendees to support a worthwhile cause.
The OPHELIA Foundation is throwing its annual Party with a Purpose, which is held in support of the organization’s scholarship and education goals for the fiscal year 2023-2024. The foundation has set an ambitious goal for the event – it hopes to raise $10,000 in one night.
To meet this goal, the foundation is asking that more than 50 family and friends donate at least $103 to help students from the community make a well-prepared return to school in the fall. Donations will allow the foundation to distribute reading materials, school supplies, and book Bags to children in the third and fourth grades.
In addition, donations at the event will help fund two scholarships that will be given to graduating seniors who plan to attend college in 2024.
Other than the donations, nothing is expected of those attending the party except that they have fun, enjoy meeting new people, and unite in fellowship to support a great cause.
The OPHELIA Foundation, which was created in 2014, has focused on communities where extreme needs exist, such as impoverished young people and disparities in health.
Parking is free in the lot. The Party with a Purpose is September 9 at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Springfield.
