An annual event is coming up that celebrates the potential of Black men.
The 9th annual Future King's Scholarship Gala 2023 is scheduled to take place at the Waterford Event Center. The evening is a fundraiser for the Future Kings Scholarship Fund, which has thus far provided scholarships worth thousands to youths from economically challenged and underserved communities. Supporters of the fund have made it possible for the Future Kings to mentor, support, and educate more than 1,000 men since the effort began in 2010.
The Future Kings organization partners with colleges, community organizations, and higher education institutions to build a pipeline that moves young people from underserved populations to rewarding and lucrative careers in STEM-based industries. The pipeline includes opportunities to have valuable life experiences in business, entrepreneurship, and finance, as well as learning so-called “soft skills,” such as learning how to fit in with co-workers.
The evening’s keynote speaker is Cornell William Brooks. Brooks is an attorney and activist who is a graduate of the Yale Law School. He is a past president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
The Waterford Event Centers is located at 6715 Commerce Street in Springfield. The date of the gala is Saturday, April 29 at 6pm. When events like this are planned, organizers can choose to use brochure printing to create appropriate programs for the evening.
