The Spring Festival is taking place this May in Reston, hosted by the Walker Nature Center.
Visitors will be able to get up close to live animals with Reptiles Alive, enjoy some fishing activities, and the kids can take part in some arts and crafts projects.
There will be entertainment for people of all ages, including the Bob Brown Puppets and the Recycling Lady. Acoustic musical acts are set to include the Stewart Sisters, Tom Bodine & Kathleen Huber, Ladies Done Waltzing, and Nicole Belanus.
Local environmental groups will be on hand to provide information about their programs and services, native plants will be on sale, and visitors can rent canoes or kayaks for $3. Guided tours taking place during the day will include one exploring backyard habitat with Claudia Thompson-Deahl and a wildflower walk led by Paul Schmidt.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the festival. Many of the environmental groups will probably be handing out information provided by Reston printing companies, with recycled paper sure to be the order of the day.
The Spring Festival is being held at the Walker Nature Center on May 2 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Admission is free and the event will take place rain or shine. To learn more, or to become a volunteer, call 703-476-9689.
