To kick off summer, Portside in Old Town Summer Festival will be returning to Alexandria for two days in mid-June.
Adults and kids alike will get to enjoy Dominion Energy Lawn Games like cornhole, and the Office of Historic Alexandria will bring activities such as "Guess Who", crafts, and viewing of "Mapping Alexandria" Stories of a Changing City", a temporary exhibit at Robinson Landing.
From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday night performers selected from Alexandria Jazz Fest, will be The Lovejoy Group, Brandon Woody's Upendo, Kokayi, and Kenneth Carroll. The City of Alexandria's Poet Laureate Zeina Azzamand and the ACPS Elementary Poet Laureate Elizabeth Jones will hold live poetry readings.
On Saturday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Northern Virginia Girls on the Run will help guests make shoe charms, enjoy bubbles and coloring pages. Safe Space NOVA will have youth activities such as temporary tattoos, giant magic bubbles, and rock painting. Handmade mini cork boats will be entered in a mini regatta.
From 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm entertainment will be Latin and American Jazz, Ethiopian Jazz, Alternative Country, salsa, and modern blues.
Photographers are often hired for events such as this to take pictures during the festivities. These pictures can go to nearby Print shops to be used in promoting the event in the future.
The Portside in Old Town Summer Festival will take place Friday June 21st and Saturday June 22nd at Waterfront Park, 1 A Prince Street.
