The 40th annual Thanksgiving 5k race will be held next month in Cottonwood Heights, welcoming runners and walkers of all ages in support of a worthy cause.
Funds raised through the 5k are directed to local recreation programs and activities. In addition, $1 from every registration fee will be given to the Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Foundation. The foundation is a community-based non-profit organization that provides subsidies to area families in need, to allow them to participate in recreational lessons and programs. Its financial assistance also extends to support local capital parks and recreation projects and facilities.
The Thanksgiving 5k is one of the foundation's main fundraisers, as well as an annual golf tournament. It also relies on ongoing community donations.
Early registration for the 5k is open until November 1. The fee is $30 and the price increases to $35 after that date. Day of event registration is $40 and only available if the race is not sold out in advance. There are reduced registration fees for young people 11 and under. Registration includes a t-shirt and chip timing.
Participants can pick up race shirts on the day prior to the race when the best selection of sizes will be available. Sponsors of race events such as this often use graphic design services to create their T-shirt designs.
The 5k will be held November 28, 2024 at 9am, commencing at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center.
