Folks in Midland can look forward to mingling with neighbors and embracing holiday cheer when the city holds an evening celebration.
In early December, the city of Midland and the Downtown Park Conservancy will present Midland's Merry Lights. The event extends support to downtown merchants, who will observe extended hours and offer discounts on select items. Organizers expect up to 6,000 celebrants to attend, which will feature over 30 merchant tents, many food trucks, and up to 20 street vendors. Attendees may look for poster printing alerting them to favorite vendors.
Many activities are planned for the evening. These include an appearance from Santa, live musical performances, a shopping market, and the traditional lighting of the city’s Christmas tree. Several food trucks will be on hand as well, including the Cancun Grill, Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, Tkilaz Mexican Restaurant, and the Wall Street Bar and Grill. Several corporate and individual sponsors make the event possible, including Community National Bank, ConocoPhillips, and Chevron.
The third annual Market at Midland’s Merry Lights is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. It will be at Centennial Park, 200 West Wall Street. There is no cost to attend, and limited free parking is available. Attendees are encouraged to view the available parking map on the city’s website. Those looking for more information may contact the city on 432-687-8200.
