Houston film explores impact of light pollution

Light pollution can have a significant impact on both the human and natural worlds, and a Houston screening will be focused on this topic.

Houston Audubon and the ACTion Lab will be giving the public an opportunity to learn more about light pollution and what they can do to help mitigate its impact, when it offers a viewing of the film “Lights Out Texas.” It is free to join in, but advance registration has been requested.

The documentary will explore how light pollution can impact migratory birds as well as human health, and after it has drawn to a close, the audience will be invited to remain on site for a panel discussion. This portion of the activity will include input from experts in conservation, public health, and urban development. While it will be screened in person, a virtual option is available for anyone who cannot attend.

Being environmentally friendly can be as simple as making some lifestyle changes, and taking part in an organized activity may help point the way. A poster printing company can build public interest in such an event by preparing effective yet budget-friendly marketing materials.

The UTHealth Houston School of Public Health will be the location for this film screening, scheduled for Thursday, July 10. The curtain will go up at 5:30 pm.
