Houston class to prepare pretty papers

A Houston class will teach the basics of making paper using sustainable methods.

The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft will be sharing paper making secrets with members of the public who register for an upcoming class. It will take a page from nature for inspiration, and it will be held rain or shine.

The group will be working with both locally sourced plant fibers and recycled paper, and they will be able to watch as the pulp they use is prepared. They will then use the equipment supplied to complete the process before adding their own special custom touches.

There is no cost for the workshop, and seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The class will be led by a local artist. The function has been made possible thanks to financial assistance from the Strake Foundation.

A hands-on crafting class gives the public an opportunity to learn a new hobby and also meet others who are interested in the pastime. Community guides, which may be prepared by a brochure printing company, often list activities of this nature.

This introduction to the art of preparing pretty papers using natural material will be on offer on Saturday, October 1 starting at 11:00 am. It will be taking place at 4848 Main Street in Houston that day.
