Helpers sought for Houston environmental service project

A big environmental project will soon be underway in Houston, and thanks to the help of volunteers, its organizers are hoping it will make a huge impact.

Sheldon Lake State Park and Environmental Learning Center issued a request to those who call the city home looking for volunteers for a hands on service project. It will help to restore the location’s coastal prairie, and everyone who is age eight and up is invited to join in and make a difference.

The group will be replanting the designated site with grasses and other native plants. These are important because they provide food and habitat for wildlife, and many species depend on them for their survival. Advance registration has been requested, and everyone can choose the time they would like to volunteer. It's free to get involved.

Giving the public a chance to be part of a service project can provide them with a range of benefits, including the good feeling they may get from a day of giving nature a helping hand. Registration Forms, waivers, organization Letterheads and other custom documents for a not for profit group can be prepared by local Stationery printers.

This public plant-a-thon will be helping to restore native flora at Sheldon Lake State Park and Environmental Learning Center on November 4th. The activity will run from 8:30 am until 11:00 am.
