Dallas’ Sixth Floor Museum has devised a way for people to learn about the history of Dealey Plaza from the comfort of their own home via a free digital online experience.
The interactive guide, Dealey Plaza National Historic Landmark District, is made up of the following four components:
“The Front Door of Dallas,” which shows the history of the site where the Plaza is located from the founding of Dallas in 1841 at the site of Dealey plaza, up to today.
“Explore the Plaza,” featuring an interactive map that takes the viewer through 17 assorted points of historic interest in and around the plaza.
“Friday, November 22, 1963,” which allows the viewer to navigate the Plaza during the Kennedy assassination and includes photographs, films, oral history, and contemporary news broadcasts.
“Facing Tragedy,” which chronicles how the community has paid homage to President Kennedy and recognized tragic moments in Dallas’ history.
Prior to the arrival of traveling exhibits, museums frequently rely on brochure printing services to help them build excitement for an exhibit before it arrives.
The self-guided digital tour is available in Spanish as well as English and can be viewed on computers, tablets, and smartphones. Depending on the amount of time an individual spends on individual sections, the digital tour generally takes about 30-40 minutes to complete.
