Hit Dallas restaurant chain set to change hands

Bonchon, a Korean fried chicken chain based in Dallas, will soon have new owners as restaurant operator Minor Food and the investment firm Serruya have agreed to purchase the chain from Mr. Seo & Family and VIG Partners.

As per a company announcement, Minor Food will have control of the company’s operations outside the Americas while Serruya will be in charge of operations in North, Central, and South America. According to Serruya, which moved its headquarters to Dallas from New York City, it has plans to expand its U.S. business into Mexico, Chile, and Canada.

Banner printing services are an invaluable source of advertising for any new business.

Bonchon has a goal of 500 U.S. locations and, according to the company, had 151 at the end of 2025. Texas is one of 10 states targeted for expansion. At present there are seven Bonchons in the Lone Star State with three in Dallas-Fort Worth and four in the Houston area. Additionally, the chain is said to be turning its attention to San Antonio for new locations.

In total, Bonchon, which was founded in 2002, has approximately 500 restaurants spread out across the U.S., Laos, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Malaysia. The chain specializes in double-fried, hand-battered chicken wings, chicken drumsticks, boneless chicken wings, and chicken strips available in five flavors.
