In East Dallas, a well-known and beloved building that at one time was occupied by Brink’s Coffee Shop & Restaurant will once again house a business – Lucky’s Hot Chicken.
The Nashville-style hot chicken establishment, which according to a release will open for business in early spring 2020, will be located at 4505 Gaston Ave. Kyle Brooks and Hunter Pond, owners of East Hampton Sandwich Co., Hudson House and Drake, have purchased the mid-century style building. The restaurant will be run by Lou Olerio, who started Shayna’s Place at Sylvan Thirty.
Finding a reliable supplier of Business Cards and Letterheads, as well as several other printed products, is just one of the many details with which a new business must contend.
Josh Bonee is to serve as chef; a Nashville transplant, his most recent work was as a sous chef at Flora Street Café. Following a counter-service model in addition to curbside pickup, Lucky’s will feature hot chicken served in five heat levels. Options will include breasts, thighs, wings and tenders on plates as well as hot chicken sandwiches. Among the sides will be baked beans, coleslaw, collard greens, and mac ’n cheese. Also available will be milkshakes.
Most recently occupied by a laundromat, the property’s treasured “googie” architecture style will be restored by Brooks and Pond along with the distinctive, rotating sign. Founder of Brinker International, Norman Brinker opened his first restaurant, Brink’s, in 1964.
