A report issued by Commercial Edge shows Dallas-Fort Worth is now in the process of building more industrial space than seven months ago, even though it was then reported that the city already led the country in industrial storage projects.
The combination of just-in-time delivery and supply-chain woes resulted in empty shelves during the pandemic. Local businesses, learning from their mistakes and trying to ensure history does not repeat itself, have started a building boom of gigantic proportion.
The improvement in the supply change has resulted in companies scrambling for places to store their extra merchandise, and adding to the glut of goods is the fact that inflation has reduced buying. As a result, a storage construction boom amounting to enough space to contain 377 Super Walmart stores is underway.
From real estate sales to garnering construction contracts, Business Cards changing hands play a part in any construction boom.
DFW has nearly 67 million square feet of space in the construction pipeline. The reason this is happening here is because DFW has the transportation infrastructure to send and receive numerous shipments and is located conveniently near the middle of the country. Also, the cost of constructing and operating huge sites is lower here than in most other locations.
According to the report, industrial space planned here is equal to that of Houston, Baltimore, Boston, Tampa, Portland, Seattle, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Los Angeles all added together.
