Becky Nelson has recently opened a brick-and-mortar location for her Le Gourmet Baking, which formerly supplied her signature shortbread cookies only to Royal Blue Grocery and Neiman Marcus.
The new storefront is located at 5601 Lovers Lane, near the Dallas North Tollway, and will supply her famous cookies at a retail price. Additionally on offer will be sandwiches, soups, quiches, tartines and salads for takeout, as well as a la carte sides that include pimento cheese spread.
Among the features of the new establishment is a glass wall that enables those at the front of the shop to see the bakers at work in the back.
Nelson’s career food service began in 2012 as a cottage industry entity known as Le Gourmet Valet and provided a meal-delivery service for families. The divorcee, with three children to support, created for her signature baked treat a modified version of the Barefoot Contessa’s shortbread cookie.
Nelson’s cookies are ¾-inch high and two inches around and distinctively decorated. Passing up the opportunity to supply Trader Joe’s Texas locations with cookies, Nelson took her cookies to Neiman Marcus, which included them in its 2016 holiday catalog.
It is highly likely that some businesses will incorporate her elegant confectionary treats in their plans for Corporate Gifts.
Le Gourmet Baking opens Monday – Saturday at 10:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm weekdays and at 3:00 pm on Saturdays.
