North Texas to collectively pitch for Amazon's No.2 HQ

Over a dozen cities in North Texas have banded together as part of a regional pitch to entice e-retail giant Amazon to place its second headquarters in this part of the state.

The Seattle-based company is accepting bids from throughout North America for what it is calling its HQ2. It opened the bidding for the new site on September 7 and all proposals must be submitted by October 19. The city awarded the $5bn project and the accompanying 50,000 or so high-paying jobs will not be announced until sometime next year.

No comment could be elicited from the Dallas Regional Chamber on which or how many cities have expressed a desire to be included. However, estimates from various industry sources indicate that 12 to 14 cities in North Texas may be included. Officials Dallas, Allen, Fort Worth, Frisco, Irving, Richardson, and Plano are among those to have confirmed their interest.

The North Texas proposal will focus on the region’s overall positive attributes, as well as the individual cities and their proposed sites. Additionally, the bid will lay out incentives such as grants and tax abatements available for each potential location.

Officials in Dallas will be hoping to be in the market for a supplier of custom Business Cards and Stationery printing featuring Amazon’s distinctive Logo Design.
