According to data compiled by the self-storage company StorageCafé, Dallas is in the lead among Texas cities when it comes to size of newbuild single-family homes. For 2019, the average new house size in Dallas was 3,108 square feet, which was up from the 2010 average of 2,936 and placed the city fifth among the country’s largest American cities.
Despite being able to claim the seventh slot among cities with the largest newbuilt apartments in the U.S., new apartments here were approximately 80 square feet smaller in 2019 than in 2010.
Construction sites for apartment and residential developments frequently use a banner printing services well before the properties are ready to be occupied.
StorageCafé elaborated saying:
"According to the latest available US Census data, the average size of single-family homes built in the US was trending upwards from 2010 until 2017, when sizes hit a peak of 2,643 square feet. Since then, single family homes began decreasing in size, with homes built in 2019 averaging 2,611 square feet."
Still, at an average of 2,128 square feet, American houses are among the world’s largest. Chicago offers the largest new houses with the average size in 2019 being 3,330 square feet, and for apartments, Jacksonville, Florida led the nation at an average of 987 square feet.
