An innovative idea in dining has been conceived through the combined efforts of a restaurateur and a local skate park.
Franchesca Nor, owner of Dive Coastal Cuisine in Snider Plaza owner Franchesca Nor, has collaborated with the Dallas skate park 4DWN to introduce DiveDWN, utilizing a high-tech container gardening method.
Using Growtainer technology, the DiveDWN container garden, called Future Farm, will be located at 2633 Ferris Street at the skate park. The garden will be made up of two 40-foot-long climate-controlled containers capable of growing as many as 36,000 heads of lettuce per year. During warmer weather, other crops can be included in the garden, such as tomatoes. The containers will be surrounded by a deck with planters growing outdoor crops. Additionally, there will be a skate park viewing deck.
Flyer printing is an affordable and easy-to-use means of informing the public of local events and innovations.
The container garden ensures that Dive will have fresh produce to serve, and that customers will be aware of the source of their food. A second use of the Future Farm will be as a teaching tool. Donations will be made from it to families in need, and classes teaching cultivation and conservation will take place. Moreover, it will sponsor a composting program on the side.
The opening for DiveDWN is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, with FutureFest, a free community event, planned for 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. The event will include Dive Coastal Cuisine’s food, an artisan market, skaters, DJs, and Mother’s Day-themed activities.
