It appears that improving infrastructure is going to be a priority in the Trump administration and the high-speed rail connecting Dallas and Houston has reportedly been included on preliminary lists of high-priority projects.
Two nearly identical lists detailing 50 infrastructure projects are currently circulating. One of the lists was presented to the National Governor’s Association, while digital Copies were dispersed throughout the congressional and business communities. The accumulative estimate cost for projects on a single list is $137.5bn.
The development of the country’s first high-speed passenger train is taking place here in Texas and will connect Dallas to Houston with a mid-trip stop in the Brazos Valley near Bryan/College Station. The 205mph train is anticipated to make the trip in 90 minutes.
A privately owned Texas-based company, Texas Central Partners, has been navigating the complicated process of preparing an environmental impact statement for the last two years. Coincidentally, on the day the article appeared on McClatchy, the President issued an executive order designed to speed up environmental reviews with eye toward expediting authorizations for high-priority infrastructure projects.
Qualifications for making it onto the high-priority projects list include being of benefit to general welfare, the environment, or the United States. The type of projects on the list are diverse and include improvements to airports, bridges, rail systems, port facilities, pipelines, and electric transmission line.
