The invitation to BagelFest, a celebration that highlights all things pertaining to bagels, came to Oren Salomon, Starship Bagel owner, from the BagelFest founder himself, Sam Silverman. The invitation followed Starship’s appearance on the Bon Appetit magazine’s Best Bagels in the U.S. list.
According to Silverman, creativity, integrity, and quality are the characteristics looked for in participants for BagelFest. He said:
"Each competitor is selected not just for their delicious bagels, but also for their unwavering dedication to the craft and their unique stories."
Prior to opening his first bagel shop in Lewisville in 2021, Salomon honed his craft selling bagels from his home. His bagel making operation really took off when he opened his second location in 2023 in downtown Dallas.
Food establishments often work closely with Print shops to keep their Menus fresh and inviting.
Salomon indicated that he was eager to take on the challenge of making bagels in a new environment, using unfamiliar equipment with temperatures and humidity in which he is unaccustomed to baking.
