An August 8 press release from the SANS Institute announced the speakers for its upcoming event. SANS, recognized as the largest professional cybersecurity training and certification provider in the world, was founded in 1989 and provides its services to governments as well as commercial institutions.
Event Co-Chair Kathy Fithen, Coca-Cola’s Chief Privacy Officer, is scheduled to give the keynote speech, the title of which is to be “Security to Privacy: How Did I Get Here?” She, along with other CISOs, will share hands-on experiences from their careers to assist others in creating an effective privacy and security program.
Sharing Co-Chair duties with Fithen will be Frank Kim, SANS CISO, who pointed out that:
"The seemingly constant news of data breaches and security incidents have led to an increased focus on both data protection and privacy."
The summit takes place September 27 to October 4, and features detailed talks for the first two days followed by a series of courses featuring hands-on training for privacy and security. Information gleaned from these talks and courses will likely prompt cybersecurity reviews, and those companies that engage in newsletter printing will no doubt wish to include reminders on how to keep company data secure in their next issue.
