One of the city’s first modern Italian restaurants when it debuted in the late 1980s, Sfuzzi is being brought back to life by Phil Schanbaum and Brandon Hays. Schanbaum says the duo will highlight original Sfuzzi recipes along with a few new ones, including flavorful pastas, incredible pizzas, and other carefully created dishes.
Schanbaum explained:
"The plan is to draw as much inspiration as possible from the original Menus – both food and bar."
That plan includes the pizzeria’s signature frozen Bellini; plus, a cocktail program that former Sfuzzi barback, Fernanda Rossano, who is now one of the city’s most esteemed cocktail pros, is creating.

The new restaurant has seating for 80 diners inside, while its large outdoor space will seat 120 and will offer a wraparound patio, and a bar in the shape of a letter U. The interior will be split with one side offering traditional dining, and lounge seating on the other, with a huge wood burning oven used as a centerpiece.
According to a news release, the new Sfuzzi will open in early 2022 at 2401 Henderson Ave., where Capitol Pub used to be located.
