Ice cream with a scientific twist to arrive in Dallas

For Creamistry’s Dallas debut this weekend, ice cream lovers can order their favorite flavor and have it made right before their eyes.

The secret to the California-based ice cream shop is liquid nitrogen, which allows the company to make ice cream to order on the spot. The idea is to serve ice cream at its freshest and customers literally see their choice of flavor being created.

Creamistry will open its first Dallas location in Addison at Village on the Parkway with two additional locations scheduled to open early next year – one at 1929 Greenville Ave., and the other in Las Colinas. Such businesses often work with a printing company to create some sort of literature explaining the concept behind their stores.

The Creamistry concept was created by Jay and Katie Yim in 2013, after Jay saw a street vendor in South Korea making ice cream using liquid nitrogen. With wife Katie and the help of his father, he made his inaugural batch of homemade ice cream using liquid nitrogen to quickly freeze the dessert. The company starting franchising in 2014 and has grown since.

Tomorrow, December 2, is opening day at the Creamistry, an customers can receive a free scoop of ice cream from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, as well as an additional topping. Creamistry-branded sunglasses will also be given away.
