Stumpy’s Hatchet House issued a press release in which it described the activity enjoyed by its patrons as:
“An extreme version of darts.”
That is putting it mildly – participants try to hit a painted bull’s eye with a hatchet that they hurl overhand through the air. The company invests in trained instructors who can show patrons the ropes, as well as ensure a friendly and safe experience for all participants.
This will be the DFW area’s first Stumpy’s, although the company has 22 other locations across the country. Among those other sites is the San Antonio Stumpy’s, which in 2018 was the first to open in the Lone Star State. Locations are also planned for Waco and Austin in the near future.
Banner printing is often used by new establishments to ensure that potential customers can find them.
The new axe-throwing establishment will be different from others in the DFW area in that it will not be licensed to sell liquor. Therefore, customers will be allowed to bring in their own spirits and Stumpy’s will provide not only ice, but also galvanized steel buckets to hold it.
Stumpy’s Hatchet House is anticipating a mid-summer opening of the 7,500-square-foot axe-throwing space, construction of which will begin this month.
