Dallas at No. 3 relocation spot for Austin millennials

A recent report has revealed that the 30% of millennials raised in Austin who have chosen to relocate have made Dallas the third most popular destination for their new home.

The population of Dallas-Fort Worth has grown considerably over the last few years, and although many have moved here from California, more than a few are millennials who have chosen to leave the Lone Star State’s capital city. Harvard University researchers, using U.S. Census Bureau data, say that 70% of those born 1984-1992 and raised in Austin have remained here. Of the remainder, Dallas was their third most popular destination, attracting 2.8% of them.

The No. 1 and No. 2 cities receiving relocating Austin millennials from the targeted age range were Houston and San Antonio with 3.9% and 3.1%. Among the Austin-raised millennials, the top out-of-state destination was Los Angeles, which received 0.86%.

Real estate companies, which continually utilize printing services and graphic design, are always interested in where people are moving from and to.

Data used by researchers came from population, housing, and federal tax reports. According to researchers, Texas migration of millennials is in line with national trends, whereby 80% of U.S. young adults who relocate stay within a 100-mile radius of where they were raised, increasing to 90% when extended to a 500-mile radius.
