The California-based Sweetgreen restaurant chain is making its debut in Dallas in West Village, a district becoming known as a destination for the health conscious.
A press release from the chain explains that the Big D’s first Sweetgreen will be on the corner of 3636 McKinney Ave., in Brooks Brothers' former space #100.
Traditionally, establishments taking over a location will utilize a banner printing service to announce who will be moving in.
Founded in 2007, Sweetgreen’s goal is to provide “real food” in a fast-food setting that is convenient and accessible to all. The company says that it aims to make sustainable decisions and never trade quality for convenience. The three Georgetown University students who started the company relocated it in 2016 to Los Angeles and now have over 140 locations throughout the U.S.
Sweetgreen sources high-quality ingredients, locally when possible, and each morning it has fresh produce delivered. The Dallas location will use Empire Baking Co. as a source of its bread. So far, it has also made arrangements with Fredericksburg Peach Co to supply its romaine, and Village Harvest in Marfa will supply tomatoes.
The opening of Sweetgreen is scheduled for Tuesday, November 23. To celebrate the event, orders made via the Sweetgreen mobile app in the first two weeks after opening will be delivered free of charge. On November 29, each meal sold will prompt a meal to be donated to the food non-profit Brighter Bites.
