Uber market shares up in U.S.

The three-month period ending in June showed an upswing in travelers choosing Uber over taxis.

According to the data gathered by Certify, expense transaction software Uber handled 55% of business-related ground trips, while traditional taxi service was second with 43%. Compared to the same period of time last year, the percentage of business travelers using Uber rather than cabs has flipped with Uber now having the upper hand.

Local cab companies will likely be exploring all their promotional options, including those provided by a local Print company.

In Dallas, business travelers were even more inclined to select an Uber driver over a taxi, with the percentages being 60 and 39 respectively. Oddly enough, among business travelers, Uber's competitor Lyft received higher marks for cost and customer satisfaction, yet only has a miniscule market share in Dallas, similar to statistics across the country.

Uber Technologies Inc., which is headquartered in San Francisco, California, originally developed, marketed, and now operates an app for smartphones that enables the public to post requests for a ride. Uber drivers (locals using their own car) can log on and choose whether they want to take the fare. The company started as UberCab in 2009, and by mid-2015 Uber was estimated to be worth $50 million.

The company has gone international and is available in 300 cities across the globe.
