Starbucks opens new kind of store at revitalized mall in Dallas

Starbucks has recently opened what it calls a ‘community store’ at the Red Bird Mall here in Dallas.

The plan to revitalize the mall, ‘Reimagine RedBird’ lined up perfectly with Starbucks’ Community Store initiative to bring to underserved, diverse areas of the country economic development and support youth while creating jobs. This new store is the 12th throughout the country for Starbucks and its first in the Lone Star State.

As is its custom, Starbucks employed a minority-owned contractor for its Dallas Community Store. Plus, it commissioned custom designed murals for the store by Sour Grapes – a Dallas artist group.

Many companies with locations throughout the country choose to incorporate local color and culture in the graphic design of some of their custom Stationery.

Starbucks chooses to work with civic leaders and community groups in each local to provide opportunities for employees to receive training and development, comprehensive healthcare, and career options. Eligible Starbucks workers who work 20 or more hours per week can receive full tuition coverage via Starbucks College Achievement Plan for a bachelor’s degree online, as well as stock in the company.

With over 300 jobs created for locals since its inception in 2015, the Community Store initiative has opened 11 locations and connected thousands of young people to education and employment options via local in-store training.
