A recently released report notes that Dallas was among the top 10 cities to which Gen Z-ers chose to relocate last year.
According to This Old House, an American home improvement brand, Dallas ranks 9th on the list of Gen Z’s favorite new locations. The results were the result of migration trends that were analyzed across generations utilizing data recovered from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 records. It appears that 13,770 Gen Z-ers have settled in Texas in 2023, compared to 4,223 in 2022.
In their quest to attract skilled businesses, chambers of commerce often engage printing services to publicize this type of information.
When looking at the state, Zillow, the real estate marketplace site, appears to be in agreement with This Old House, ranking Texas for 2024 as the No. 1 destination for those in Gen Z. However, the numbers have not been equally distributed throughout the state. While the Gen Z population in Dallas increased in 2023, other cities such as nearby Plano saw their Gen Z numbers go down by over 4,000 following an increase in 2022 of almost 1,300.
A Gen-Z exodus appears to be underway in a number of other cities, with the trend strongest in El Paso, which saw a drop of 5,607 after reporting an increase the year before. Other cities from which Gen Z-ers are fleeing in their droves include Wichita, Kansas and Memphis, Tennessee.
The study’s top three cities gaining Gen Z-ers in order were New York City, Los Angeles, and Houston.
