Tastemaker Award winning pastry chef Diana Zamora has plans to open a new pastry shop in East Dallas before the start of 2023.
The new sweet shop will be called Nena Postreria and will be located at 4219 Bryan Street opposite the Bangkok City and Vietnam restaurant. The vintage brick building that will be Nena Postreria’s home previously housed a jujitsu studio.
Zamora, who is an experienced dessert maker, is also proving to be a savvy entrepreneur. Nena Postreria was founded as a pop-up with product created in a commissary kitchen. Her next step is opening a retail shop which she can fill from her commissary kitchen. She plans on developing her business in stages, building the kitchen slowly with a goal of eventually operating a bakery-coffeeshop-café.
To keep track of the number of patrons, new businesses often utilize voucher and flyer printing services.
Using her pop-ups as a guide, Zamora will populate her menu with Mexican snack cakes called “gansitos,” as well as carrot cake and tres leches (cakes containing three types of milk). An assortment of different conchas (bread rolls) and empanadas (pastries) will be available in both sweet and savory varieties.
Zamora has worked at several restaurants as a dessert maker and garnered extensive experience along the way. Her most recent job was at the celebrated Cry Wolf in East Dallas. Moreover, she won a Tastemaker Award in the Best Pastry Chef division in 2020.
