Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children revealed its newly renovated park to the public on Saturday, August 9.
The 28-yea-old park underwent a complete makeover. After bulldozing the old playground, new, brightly colored, child-safe equipment was installed.
Named after former Texas Governor Shiver, who at one time also served as the hospital’s board of trustees’ chairman, The Allan Shiver Park is a full-access park. Equipment is designed for the enjoyment of all children and features textured railing for easy grasping by youngsters with digital impairments. Additionally, the playground includes swings and gliders built for access by wheelchair, and other features that accommodate children with physical disabilities, such as extra wide passages on its bridge-and-platform structure.
The park is opposite the hospital’s main entrance and, as Robert Walker, the hospital’s president remarked, serves as a gateway to the hospital. According to Walker, the hospital has approximately 300 children per day coming through its doors. He anticipates that nearly every child will stop at the new playground either prior to or after their visit.
Numerous opportunities are available for Print companies to assist hospitals with their work. In addition to filling their Stationery needs and providing the many Brochures that provide important information to patients and their families, poster printing services help raise funds for projects such as this one.
