New Korean chicken chain to make Dallas strides

“Mad for Chicken”, a New York-based chain restaurant, will launch its first Texas location in the Dallas area.

The chain’s soy garlic fried chicken is its signature dish and can be accompanied by any of a variety of unique Korean-inspired dishes. The chicken is double fried after being thinly coated with flour, and finally brushed with the soy garlic sauce. Available pieces include boneless breasts, drumsticks, and wings.

The additional Korean-based dishes include bulgogi bowls, dumplings, sizzling hot stone kimchi, and pork belly strips, as well as salads, sandwiches, and quesadillas.

Mad for Chicken started in Flushing, New York in 2005 and currently has five New York state locations. Its inaugural Texas location will be in the Dallas suburb of McKinney where the Butcher Board used to be at 216 W. Virginia Street.

Michal Kim is the franchisee for the upcoming location and the owner of One Esca. Kim is also opening an Uptown Dallas Asian restaurant called Anju.

Mad for Chicken is distinguished by its unusual interiors that are highlighted by old wood and rustic signage. While Dallas is well supplied with Nashville hot chicken establishments, Culturemap Dallas notes that only one of them is Korean-themed.

Kim anticipates a spring opening for Mad for Chicken.
