Ten half-hour episodes have been ordered, and each week three bakers will be highlighted to show off their skill and imagination. According to Courtney White, senior VP at Food Network, Dallas Cakes will be part of the network’s Monday night sweet-themed schedule.
In a press release, White elaborated:
"Audiences will be captivated by the expert baking techniques and decorating skills used in every detail of these unique, jaw-dropping cakes — each one living up to Dallas' larger-than-life reputation."
Going beyond the traditional flowery wedding cakes and ware oriented around a company’s Logo Design, the cakes featured on the show include a DeLorean cake as part of a Back to the Future theme complete with working headlight and a chocolate-spewing oil derrick cake.
The series debuts at 9:30 pm on April 30. The first episode is titled ‘Dragons and Belt Buckles, Oh My!’ and contains three segments. First up is a Game of Thrones-themed groom’s cake followed by a “smoking” Chinese New Year block party cake. The third segment will feature a cowboy coffee cake made up of 24 layers constructed into the world’s biggest belt buckle for the Fort Worth Stockyards Championship Rodeo’s 100th anniversary commemoration.
