Dallas is one of four major Texas cities listed in a new study of where debt reduction is most possible.
Student Loan Hero, a financial education website based in Austin, released a study revealing that Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio are among the top 20 cities in the U.S. for residents in the best position to reduce their debt. Ideally, this will make residents in those cities less anxious about their debt and more hopeful of paying it off.
Student Loan Hero looked at 159 cities in the U.S., taking into account cost of living, average income tax load, average wage, and average disposable income. Dallas was at No. 11, and among Texas cities with the best ranking was Houston at No. 3, Austin at No. 5, and San Antonio at No. 8.
First place on the list went to Durham, North Carolina, while Fort Worth was down toward the middle of the list at No. 71.
Dallas and other cities high on the list will likely include this information in their Presentation Folders when wooing large corporations to invest here.
Among the five largest Texas cities, Houston had the highest average disposable income at $20,422 as well as the highest average annual wage at $52,870. San Antonio had the most favorable income tax load at $8,184 and the most enviable cost of living was found to be there as well, at 12.2% under the national average.
