Fort Worth fest says yippee-kai-yum

Residents in the Dallas Fort Worth area are loosening their belts and bringing their appetites for the Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival.

The three-day event brings a wide variety of dishes, as well as beverages such as beer and wine. The fest aims to have a little something for everyone, with a special focus on celebrating the food and drinks for which Texas is best known.

The weekend kicks off with the BBQ Showdown. Pitmasters from around the state are gathering to compete to find who has the best smoked meat in the West. Entrants include BBQ on the Bazos, Del Norte Tacos, Woodshed Smokehouse, and Riscky’s. Visitors will get to taste a sampling of all the entries with sides before watching the winner be declared.

The Main Event itself brings over 100 different wines, craft beers, spirits, and more from both the local area and across the United States, and even some international labels. This will be paired with samplings from some of the best chefs in North Texas. Custom Drinkware is not included in the ticket price, but may be purchased at the event. Afterwards, guests can participate in a dessert tasting.

The last day of the event features a combinations of hamburgers, craft beers, and music. The musical lineup for Burgers, Brews, and Blues can be found on the website.

The Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival will be held from Thursday, March 30 to April 1 at the Pier 1 Imports Building. Prices vary from $60 to $150 depending on the event being visited. Anyone looking for more info should visit the website.
