DFW high on list of most festive U.S. spots

Data gathered by the homecare app Thumbtack has revealed three Texas urban areas in the top five of the United States Most Festive Cities, with Dallas-Fort Worth garnering the second-place spot.

Which explains why DFW was included in the eight cities the Hallmark Channel selected for its “Countdown to Christmas” pop-up.

The information Thumbtack used is from consumer requests to its platform concerning holiday lighting installations or removals for January through November 2022. The rankings were then based upon the relative frequency of those requested with respect to the state and metropolitan areas’ population.

Four Lone Star cities were in the top 10, with Austin snagging the No. 1 spot followed by DFW, then Houston in the No. 4 position and San Antonio in 10th place.

According to Thumbtack, holiday lighting pros charge on average between $168 and $300. Wrapping trees outside with holiday lights generally is $60 and more based on its shape, type, and height.

Seasonal businesses, particularly small ones, often depend on flyer printing services to promote themselves.

According to a home expert, David Steckel, at Thumbtack:

“Christmas light installers book very quickly once the holiday season is in gear, so plan to call and schedule your installation as early as possible.”

Those wondering when the best time to book a holiday lights installation should note for next year that the next to last week in November is the most popular time.
