It appears from a recent report by the intelligence firm Altrata that the especially rich find Dallas a desirable location to live.
Dallas is No. 14 on the list of the world’s top 20 cities for individuals with an ultra-high net worth.
In its role of gathering data on ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNWs) and creating profiles of where they choose to live, the company came up with a list of the most popular locations for those worth over $30m to live. While other recent reports focused on the income needed to acquire “1%” status, this study deals with those with accumulated wealth.
It follows that where the wealthy live, sellers of luxury items are found as well, and Corporate Gifts are high priced.
The top 20 cities are dominated by U.S. cities with only four outside the United States holding spots in the top 10 – Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, and London.
Dallas is joined by just one other Texas city in the top 20, Houston. These Lone Star State cities rank at No. 14 and No. 15 with 4,686 and 4,420 ultra-wealthy individuals respectively. Not surprisingly, New York tops the global list with the number of ultra-wealthy individuals having either a primary or secondary residence totaling 21,714. The No. 13 slot, just ahead of Dallas, is occupied by Paris.
Also in Altrata’s report were those cities with the highest per capita number of ultra-wealthy individuals; at the top of that list were Monaco and Aspen, Colorado.
