Dallas-based company first to use Starlink

JSX of Dallas has signed up to be the first air carrier to provide SpaceX’s revolutionary high-speed internet service, known as Starlink, to its passengers.

A news release from JSX revealed that it has plans to outfit 100 of its aircraft and it is presently working in conjunction with SpaceX to supply Starlink to its fleet. The company expects for the first of its planes to be equipped with the Wi-Fi technology later this year.

Formerly headquartered in Irvine, California, JSX relocated to Dallas in 2018, and in 2020 it began providing service from Love Field with flights to Las Vegas and North Carolina. It now offers routes to Houston, Austin, and Lajitas. Additionally, the airline offers special routes to Miami, Florida; Los Cabos, Mexico; and Destin, Florida.

Starlink, utilizing its increasing network of private orbiting satellites, was recently in the news for providing Ukraine with satellite terminals to enable the country to keep its internet operational during the Russian invasion. The company was even able to fend off a recent Russian sourced “jamming attack.”

JSX offers what it calls “hop-on jet service” that requires customers to arrive just 20 minutes prior to departure. They can then “hop-on” a flight and then relax with snacks and complimentary drinks in business class-caliber seats. Soon, they will be able to enjoy high-quality Wi-Fi as they travel, provided by the carrier at no extra cost.
