Costco to add three Dallas-Fort Worth stores in 2025

Based in Washington state, the popular and prolific grocery warehouse Costco has plans for three store openings in the DFW area, two of which will be opening in Mid-March with the third opening in December 2025.

The March openings will be in the suburbs of Prosper and Weatherford at 5620 W. University Dr. and the corner of Center Point Road and I-20 respectively. Planning for the Prosper store began almost two years ago with the groundbreaking taking place in March 2024. Construction for the Weatherford location commenced in the summer of 2024. The Prosper and Weatherford locations are part of a springtime surge of Costco openings culminating in 29 new locations opening by August.

Based in Issaquah, Washington Costco has grown to 800 locations worldwide with 13 stores throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Averaging 160,000-square-feet per store, they include optical & hearing centers, gas, dining options and prescriptions services. Similar to Sam’s Club, its primary rival, Costco grew in popularity due to features such as its walk-in refrigerated section, discounted bulk groceries, gas, prescriptions, flat screen TVs and extensive free food and drink samples.

The third new Costco location in DFW will be in Celina and is scheduled for December 2025 and will adjoin The Crossing at Moore Farm, a mixed-use development project at the corner of Preston and Ownsby roads.
