It was reported in the Austin-American Statesman on October 11 that former President George W. Bush would break with recent tradition by not being buried in Dallas at his presidential library.
Bush, along with his wife Laura, have chosen the Texas State Cemetery in Austin as their final resting place. By deciding not to be buried in Dallas at Southern Methodist University, the 44th president is going against the recent norm of presidents being buried at their presidential libraries.
This new information will likely be forwarded to a local printing company used to produce the informational material made available at the library.
Every deceased president after Lyndon B. Johnson has been laid to rest at his presidential library. Johnson was buried on the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas. During his presidency the ranch was referred to as the Texas White House and is now the location of the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site.
Harry Bradley, the superintendent of the Texas State Cemetery, was quoted in the Statesman as saying:
"They (the former President and Mrs. Bush) are in the process of looking at various areas in the cemetery now."
Former President George H.W. Bush, Bush Jr.’s father, has a plot for himself and his wife Barbara there, along with their daughter Robin.
