A leader in lithium energy storage for industrial applications as well as public transit, Voltabox of Texas Inc. already operates a temporary manufacturing facility in the area. However, plans are underway that will bring an additional 37 permanent high-tech manufacturing jobs to Cedar Park. Facilities here are to be built at a cost of $6m and will be operational by March 2015.
At the September 4 meeting of the Cedar Park City Council, Mayor Matt Powell thanked Voltabox for choosing Cedar Park and also congratulated them for their expansion here. He noted that this latest addition to the city shows why Central Texas is gaining its reputation as a hub for alternative energy.
The Cedar Park City Council demonstrated the business-friendly atmosphere of the city by voting Voltabox for a $73,875 tax abatement, which was based on the company’s $6m capital investment.
Larry Holt, Cedar Park Assistant Director of Economic Development, said:
“Cedar Park is excited to welcome innovative, high-technology businesses such as Voltabox of Texas to our community and we are thrilled they have chosen Cedar Park as the location for their North American manufacturing headquarters.”
