Many people have a stack of T-Shirts they may not know what to do with, so an upcoming event will show how they can be transformed into a special memento.
Cedar Park’s Over the Top Quilting Studio will be hosting a three-hour workshop that will introduce the art of crafting T-shirt quilts using a random design. Laurie Holt, who has many years of experience in creating these pieces, will guide the group, with tickets priced at $50.
The registrants in the workshop will discover how they can use as many of their unwanted shirts as they can to prepare their quilt, and the Logo Design on each shirt will be incorporated into the finished piece. The participants will need to supply five shirts along with a rotary cutter, a 12.5-inch by 12.5-inch cutting square as well as a sewing machine, although they may be able to rent one on site if needed.
An activity like this offers a way to “upcycle” textiles so that they can find a new use. Printed instruction sheets and other items for the session may be ordered from local Stationery printers.
Over the Top Quilting Studio will be offering this workshop on October 12. It will be held in Studio 110, and seat reservations for the activity are being accepted now.
