New Stars owners to keep hockey in the city

Local hockey fans will be happy to hear that their team, the Dallas Stars, will remain right here in Cedar Park.

The new owners of the minor league hockey team have confirmed that they have no intention of moving the team away from Cedar Park. Last month, when the Vancouver-based Northland Properties announced its purchase had been finalized, it also made known its deal concerning the Cedar Park Events Center.

The Dallas Stars organization will no doubt be requiring the services of Stationery printers. As is the case when any business changes hands, a supply of Letterheads, invoices, and Business Cards with the new owner's name included will need to be ordered.

The Texas Stars are the principal tenant of the five-year-old Cedar Park Events Center, although a number of other events take place at the venue including concerts. Included with the team purchase was property next to the center, which Vancouver-based Northland Properties has said it wants to develop.

Dallas Stars CEO Jim Lites indicated that work is likely to begin on the nearby property, which is designated for retailers and hotels, within the next 12 months. The development of this property could provide an economic boost for the city, as might the commitment the Northland Group has made to keep the Stars here through at least 2025.
